Prof. Dr. Steurer is Vice President at University of Applied Sciences Neu-Ulm. Prof. Dr. Steurer has been Vice President for Research, Internationalization and Transfer at Neu-Ulm University since January 2022. Prior to that, he was Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at Neu-Ulm University (HNU) from April 2017 to December2021, after serving as HNU's Vice President for Research and Transfer from March 2013 to March 2017. In addition to his functions, he is involved with HNU in the implementation of third-party funded projects for the university's Africa Institute. These are largely in the area of promoting entrepreneurship in rural Africa through the use of decentralized electrification.
During his professional career he gained extensive experience in controlling, risk management and financing. In particular, at the beginning of his professional career he applied the knowledge gained from his dissertation in the field of artificial intelligence to forecasting models in the capital market at Daimler AG and Merck Finck Asset Management. As part of his doctorate, he was responsible for coordinating project work in financial risk management at Daimler AG's Ulm Research Center. He published the results in the development of quantitative models based on artificial intelligence for scoring, rating and forecasting tasks in the national and international environment.
